This Privacy Policy describes how Legal Authority Lab, LLC, which offers the FileShark software under its Legal and Code brand, handles information in connection with www.legalauthoritylab.com (the "Website") and the sale and support of the FileShark software. It is the privacy policy of the software's maker, not of any law firm that operates FileShark.
1. Who We Are
FileShark is a premium, stand-alone product for law firms, offered under Legal and Code, a brand of Legal Authority Lab, LLC, a Florida limited liability company located at 7900 Nova Drive, Suite 205, Davie, Florida 33324. Legal and Code and FileShark are brands and products of Legal Authority Lab, LLC and are not separate legal entities. For questions about this Policy, contact support@legalauthoritylab.com.
2. Important: Data You Handle in FileShark
After purchase, you own your copy of FileShark and control how it is used. Legal Authority Lab, LLC and its Legal and Code brand are not involved in your operation of the software, do not access, host, or process the data you handle with it, and are neither the Controller nor the Processor of that data. You determine those roles.
When you use FileShark to collect files, forms, and signatures from your clients, that information ("Customer Data") is processed within your own copy of the application, under your control, on infrastructure and third-party services that you configure. This Privacy Policy does not cover Customer Data. Your own privacy policy governs your relationship with your clients.
3. What This Policy Covers
This Policy covers information we handle, as an independent controller, about visitors to our Website and purchasers of the Software — for selling and delivering the Software, providing any support or updates you purchase, and operating our Website.
4. Information We Collect
- Purchaser and account information, such as your name, email address, firm or organization name, and role.
- Billing information, processed through Stripe.
- Communications you send us, such as sales or support inquiries.
- Website usage data, such as IP address, browser and device information, cookies, and analytics.
5. How We Use Information
- To sell, license, and deliver the Software.
- To provide any support or updates you purchase.
- To process payments and manage refunds.
- To communicate with you about your purchase and account.
- To operate, secure, and improve our Website.
- To comply with legal obligations.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share only:
- With Stripe, to process payments.
- With providers that host, secure, analyze, or send email for our Website and sales, acting on our behalf.
- As required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Because we do not handle Customer Data, we do not engage sub-processors to process it. Any services involved in your handling of Customer Data are selected and controlled by you.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold about purchasers and visitors. Separately, the Software provides security capabilities that you configure and operate (see the Terms of Use and the Data Processing & Roles Addendum). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain purchaser and transaction records for as long as reasonably necessary to sell and support the Software, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
9. Your Choices and Rights
For information we hold about you as a purchaser or visitor, you may request access, correction, or deletion (subject to legal retention) by contacting support@legalauthoritylab.com. If you are an individual whose information was collected by a law firm using FileShark, that firm — not Legal Authority Lab — controls your data; please contact the firm directly.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Website and the sale of the Software are not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Website or by email before they take effect.
